Margaret began her professional life as a chartered accountant working for (what is now) PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She has more than 20 years’ experience in the professional services industry and has managed legal firms, two of which she was employed to ‘transform’. Margaret has lived and worked in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and London.
During her employment at AMP, which was demutualising, and AXA Australia, which was undergoing a major business transformation, she developed project management skills via her involvement in large scale projects.
She has extensive change management experience and has proven her business acumen by assisting the professional practices she has managed to achieve significant growth in both turnover and profitability.
In 2009, Margaret was a finalist in the ALB Managing Partner of the Year Award and in 2008 she was a finalist in the Telstra Queensland Business Women’s Award (Corporate and Private Sector).
A pioneer in cube reporting for professional services practices, Margaret regularly speaks at industry forums and has been a technical writer and presenter for the College of Law.
In 2014, Margaret set up two networking groups in the Brisbane legal industry – Brisbane Managing Partners Group and Brisbane CEO Group. She is now the coordinator of those groups.
Margaret has a special interest in helping professional services businesses to realise their full potential by challenging the traditional methods of practice management. She focuses on helping her clients to gain strategic business advantage by ‘swimming in a slightly different direction to the rest of the fish in the sea’.
